The EM(BODY)MENT PROJECT
"The EM(BODY)MENT Project" is a collection of human stories and honest dances. “The EM(BODY)MENT Project” explores the stories of the loved ones that surround us in our every day lives. Through the use of first-hand sources such as dialogue, spontaneous gesture, recalled memories, and site-specific spaces, Katie Pustizzi in collaboration with Aurora Borealis Dance Company, has explored the identity of others through the limitlessness of movement,
video, audio, and virtual creation.
In "The EM(BODY)MENT Project", each dancer has chosen to elicit, understand, and then embody the essence of a loved one who has had a tremendous impact on their own identity through movement. All of the movement in this project has been generated from the spontaneous gestures of each loved one. Through the understanding of another, the dancers have had the opportunity to learn about their loved one’s mark on their own life. Through movement via a digital medium, we strive to document the vulnerability and identity of others through honest and
intentional story telling.
In this project, we as artists are striving to give homage to each individual’s pure and unique essence.
Through movement and performance, Katie Pustizzi and dancers, have worked to document the vulnerability and identity of others through honest story telling, which we hope allows any viewer to find commonality in the human experience and explore empathy through the understanding of others.
